• John is played with bits off comic traits from him. Namely language and details regarding his family life. The show touched on it, but comics are used to flesh it out.
• John will NOT be canon updated to Legends of Tomorrow. Thus, any future character development is going to be based on the comics.
• John has substance abuse as a natural part of his character (smoking, alcohol, previous drug use).

CAN JOHN USE MAGIC AROUND/ON YOUR CHARACTER?: Go for it! He will be amazed and overjoyed.
WHAT MAGIC DOES NOT NATURALLY WORK ON YOUR CHARACTER? It all works. Like Amanda, Dirk is an 'anomaly' in his canon and comes with powers of his own (ones he can't control, never helps him, and he generally just goes along with them).
WHAT SUBJECTS ARE A HARD "NO" FOR YOUR CHARACTER/YOU? As a player, I'm good with any/all darker aspects of canon. I love that shit. Dirk has a bit of a dark past oh his own, so any mention of using him for an 'experiment' will make him extremely uncomfortable and possibly shut down the whole conversation. Restraints via magic might also have the same effect. OOCly, I'm fine with threading something like this out for cr possibilities, negative or positive.
